BT Fasmer says: That’s a hard one I use ”new age” as the genre description, and ”spa music” as a sub genre of ”new age” – in the same way as “ethnic fusion“, “nature sounds” and “space” are sub genres of ”new age”.
Spa music is all about creating a positive, warm atmosphere with a gentle (or no) rhythm. Plenty of rich pads and a slow, distant lead instrument – for instance flute, hang drum or citar – and the audiovisual part of the spa experience is complete.
