Torben Thoger Biography
Torben Thoger is one of my favorite new age music artists. On his homepage there has now been posted a lengthy biography about this fine artist. Here you can read about his long and interesting career. Ann Beth Hilton writes this:
One might say that although Torben Thoger was born and raised in Denmark, his heart has always been in Spain. Driven by a love of melody, this masterful composer offers a powerful three album music collection that alternately relaxes (Harmony), engages (The Present), and impassions the listener (AKASHA) in an aural journey through his world.
And while you read, you get to listen to Thoger´s great music!
Suzanne Ciani’s webpage

It has not been updated much recently, but what’s there is excellent: here you get a nice presentation of her long and impressive career (like the picture to the right), see information about her concerts and you can also visit her dedicated sample page – where you can sample every track released by this 5-time Grammy nominee. There is just so much here to see and listen to.

The new face of Deep Projects
After some downtime and work behind the scenes, the new homepage of Deep Projects is now completed and ready for the release of the Deep Africa album in April. Eric Mouquet, the Deep Forest veteran, has done the design himself. On the page he gives his fans an exclusive presentation of his many musical projects, the last being the song Namba le Ndamba with singers from Cameroon (which, by the way, is not a part of the Deep Africa album).
One song is now available from the upcoming Deep China album, the “Won’t last long” track, with the Chinese singer Sa Dingding. It truly is a wonderful song.
In other news, Eric Mouquet will be performing live in Paris with South African singer songwriter Johnny Clegg. Mr. Clegg has been a record artist for over thirty years, and will this spring be releasing a new album on the Universal label. One of the topics for the concert is Eric’s short film project : “Soccer made in Africa”. Tickets for the concert is now available.
So do visit Deep-projects.com
The new Deep Project homepage
In preparation for the release of Deep Africa in April, the homepage of Deep Projects have been redesigned. Here Eric Mouquet, the Deep Forest veteran, gives you a presentation of his music and the many projects he have been involved in.
Some parts of the page are still under construction, but already there is plenty to look at. A few texts are in French, but a link to Google Translate is provided.
The music of Kori Linae Carothers
One of the most popular albums in 2009 was Kori Linae Carothers’ Trillium. It recently got several nominations in the Zone Music Reporter Awards – including best album of the year.
New age music reviewer John P. Olsen said this about Trillium in his review: “The entire album holds a wide array of New Age, Contemporary piano, Acoustic Instrumental, and Ambient touches in a well thought out arrangement, giving a multiple angle approach that fits together remarkably well.”
If you want to discover Kori Linae Carothers’ music, you must visit her very nice homepage. Here you can read her very nice blog, see videos and of course sample her music!
David Arkenstone’s new homepage

On Arkenstone’s homepage is a nice gallery (with pictures from his tour in December), a listening lounge and music shop. One of the best aspects of the new site are the videos, where there are live recordings too. Here you get to see the master in action.
Who said that new age music isn’t live music? David Arkenstone is as good on the stage as he is in the studio!
Giving back to the fans – and the world
More and more major artists are using web forums and video chat proactively to reach out to their fans. As we have told you before, Jean M. Jarre is one of them. Another is Peter Buffett. On his Ning forum his fans really get to know the man behind the music. Here they can listen to unreleased tracks and every first Tuesday in the month he answers questions live.
To become a Peter Buffett follower on Ning, follow this link and request a forum membership.
In other news, Peter is set to perform Blood Into Gold at the 2009 Freedom Awards produced by Free The Slaves. The Freedom Awards will take place on Tuesday, October 13th on the University of Southern California campus. The event is to celebrate the heroes of the anti-slavery movement from around the world and will honor organizations and individuals working to eradicate human trafficking and modern-day slavery.
You can see the strong music video below, which really gets you thinking.
New Spirit: The Seventh Fire website
Peter Buffett has just re-launched his Spirit: The Seventh Fire website to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the production, which is a Native American-inspired theatrical show with live music, video and an all-Native American cast of performers.
The Seventh Fire tells the story of one man’s journey of reconnecting with his heritage.
After first being aired as a successful PBS Pledge Special, the show embarked on a nationwide tour in 1999. 10 years later, Peter is in talks to revive the production overseas in China. The new website features a background on the production, photos, video from the show, behind the scenes footage, and much more. Check it out here.
Be also sure to check out Peter Buffett’s Ning forum, where you can sample fresh tracks from the upcoming album and interact with other fans and even Peter Buffett himself. The next meeting with him will be Tuesday, August 4th at 8pm EST. Fans can log onto www.peterbuffett.com/ning to request an invitation to join the community in order to participate in the event and discover what Peter’s next big announcement will be.
By the way, selected songs from Spirit: The Seventh Fire have been among the most popular on New Age Stars radio for several months now.

New Single from Peter Buffett
The new single from Peter Buffett is called The Cut, and it has been released today for purchase exclusively on his homepage. Members of his Ning forum have had a week or so to sample this heartfelt and thought provoking song .
As with Peter Buffett’s three most recent albums – Gold Star (2006), Staring at the Sun (2007) and Imaginary Kingdom (2008 ) – his vocal music is more pop oriented than his instrumental music. But the atmosphere and passion is still there (even more than before in my opinion), and the lyrics are great:
We wait another day
The wells run dry
But when will someone say
Were out of time?
Sample and buy the song here.
Also be sure to check out his newly redesigned homepage and our recent interview with him.
J. M. Jarre tells about his new site
Here at NewAgeMusic.nu we love artists that communicates directly with fans, and who use the power of internet to the max. One of those artists is Jean Michel Jarre. Below is his presentation of his newly redesigned site. This is truly a statement that he cares about his fans, and that he loves to create and communicate music!
Here is the new site.
And I am not the only one praising Jarre about this. Here is a comment from Youtube:
I know of few other artist who communicates so well with his fans like you do. I’ve seen you in Paris, Dublin and London. Your energy and enthusiasm is second to none. I really enjoy reading your blog and its very encouraging to now know that on the forum it is yourself writing. A big thank you from a big fan!
Or, to be more precise, no other major star in our genre is this generous when it comes to communicate with the fans. After 80 million albums sold he is still cares about you, the fan.
More tour updates from J. M. Jarre
The new blog on J. M. Jarre’s homepage gives a good insight in his current concert tour. Now you can read updates from the concert in Zurich.
New Studio Album from Tangerine Dream
The brand new album from Tangerine Dream is called CHANDRA – The Phantom Ferry Part I. And it is an album with a story! It is a science fiction piece taking place at a military headquarter near Thule, Greenland’s capital. The protagonist Carlos encounters a strange entity who seems to know more about his life and the world as he ever imagined. Is it a music album or is it a novel? Like many previous Tangerine Dream albums the line between different artforms is not so easy to spot. Their music truly epic.
Here is the track list and the cover:
01. Approaching Greenland At 7 pm
02. The Moondog Connection
03. Screaming Of The Dreamless Sleeper
04. The Unknown Is The Truth
05. The Dance Without Dancers
06. Child Lost In Wilderness
07. Sailor Of The Lost Arch
08. Verses Of A Sisong
09. Silence On A Crawler Lane
Shipping of the album has started, but is as far as I can see not out on iTunes Music Store yet.
Inspirational words from David Lanz
Pianist David Lanz has been interviewed on the topic: The Spiritual Significance Of Music. He says that:
Music, like spirit, is invisible. Yet it moves us to sing, dance, laugh, cry, even march to war, to heal, and pray, Music has the power to bring thousands of people together to celebrate. What else in life has this power? Everything on this Earth eventually crumbles and returns to the dust of which it was made. Only Spirit remains. Great music endures centuries, outliving its creators and performers.
Read it all here. It is really inspirational.
Learn to Meditate in 10 Minutes
The Gordon Brothers, David & Steve, have a very nice blog called Sound Peace. Steve has recently written a post called Learn to Meditate in 10 Minutes. He tells that:
You can learn the basics of meditation in the 10 minutes it takes you to read this article. There are countless books and courses promising to teach you to meditate and the fact is that you can learn it on your own after you know a few techniques. Once your learn the technique however, it can take years to perfect it. That’s why many people call it their “practice.” But even if you are new to meditation, you can start to reap the benefits of it such as letting go of stress, being more relaxed throughout the day, better heart health, more creativity, better concentration and better clarity right away.

Era is dead, long live Era!
One of the few new age music bands that have had a taste of a pop career, with mainstream radio plays and TV-commercials, is Eric Levi’s Era. Recently this French musician released another Era album, entitled Reborn, five years after the quite successful The Mass.
Era is most famous for their Ameno album from 1997. Enigma had enormous success with Gregorian chants on the MCMXC a.D. album, and Era’s Ameno was eagerly received by Enigma’s fans in the late 1990s. Interestingly enough, Enigma and Michael Cretu have never returned to Gregorian chants.
After listening to the new album, I must say that I am impressed; Eric Levi has breathed new life into the Era project. Tracks like Come into my world, After thousand words and Prayers sound fresh and new, but with a familiar touch of Era.
One of the things that make me come back to Era again and again is that very special medieval feel, and I am happy to say that it is plenty of this on the Reborn album.
On Era’s homepage you can hear clips from the album and watch the Come into my world video.

Andreas Vollenweider’s Air
The story behind Andreas Vollenwider’s upcoming album Air is interesting. Andreas’ plan was not to make music, to take some well-deserved time away from it all. He says:
I actually was going to make room for my passion for storytelling and I was already in the midst of an intense writing process, when suddenly I felt an unbridled desire to play music rising. So I ended up writing during the day and at night I went to my studio, to completely lose myself in the playing, for hours, very much the same way as in the very beginning, no strategy, no concrete purpose, no plan.
Andreas invited some friends for a spontaneous gathering in his studio, and in less than two weeks the new album was recorded.

The idea behind it was to create music tailor-made for people of our times who:
- feel the need to take a deep breath again
- are longing to slow down
- need a break, a moment to themselves
- are looking for a protective distance from the overwhelming flood of impressions, expectations and pressures from all sides …
- need a little time to reflect, to ponder
Mr. Vollenweider says:
Listening to music is a perfect ‘excuse’ to take a little time-out from our lives’ crazy merry-go-round of speed, pressure and expectations. Listening to music is a ‘permitted time-out’, so to speak, for which nobody would criticize us … music – used this way – is like a secret door to the very personal inner space, the home of our emotions, dreams and hopes.
On Vollenweider.com is a trailer about the album, like a music video, and even a 37 minutes long interview with the Swiss harpist.
The album will be like a breath of fresh air, that’s for sure.
Jean Michel Jarre’s new website

Jean Michel Jarre has just launched his new website, with a brand new design. In the header there are stars flying, illustrating the endless space that has been an inspiration to much of Jarre’s music. A very nice effect indeed.
On this page you’ll find his discography, Live-o-graphy, a brand new forum and Jarre’s very own blog that also includes information about his live shows. Jarre writes: A lot of content will be pushed in the next few days, and some extra features will also pop in the following next weeks.
Check out the site here.
2002′s weblog
The group 2002 has a really nice weblog (though sadly not frequently updated). But everything that is there is great, for instance the articles on flutes and other instruments.
