Pictures of Mike Oldfield in the Bahamas

We all are dreaming about finding our very own paradise, a place where we can relax and enjoy nature at its best.

One man who obviously has found his paradise, is Mike Oldfield. He is currently enjoying some well-deserved quality time in the Bahamas on his boat. Getty Images has quite a few recent pictures available of Mike Oldfield. Also make sure to read Mike’s wife’s Bahamas diary on fanpage Tubular.net

As a longtime fan I must say that I am so happy to see him with a smile on his face.

(Never forget that our music genre has lots of album with the paradise island as theme).

BT it was lovely to see Mike so relaxed, even joking around in some shots! Getty Images are selling the photos of Mike in the Bahamas. The island paradise obviously has changed Mike’s lifestyle for the better. He is also working in his home studio on the remix of Incantations. Something to look forward to…..

Voyager is an album to listen to if celtic themes help to put you in a tranquil mood. Acoustic guitar suites, pipes, harps are used in a very creative way by Mike. The electric guitar sequences are spine tingling! Best tracks for me included The Hero, Woman Of Ireland and Wild Goose Flaps Its Wings. Funny sounding song title but when you listen to this track visions of birds flying to their next destination come to mind. This is easily my favourite celtic themed album by Mike. I will post vignettes from other albums shortly. Have a listen to Songs Of Distant Earth. I will give my impressions of this work. Post your own impressions of Mike’s albums!

Songs Of Distant Earth is a futuristic album. As a science/science fiction buff, I was impressed by the choreographed images. Hibernaculum visually is like taking a virtual journey through different dimensions, entering a space ship, travelling to alien landscapes full of colour and magnificent craft, then returning via the vortex transporter. Song Of The Boatman, with its earth like images, also has elements of another world. Space craft, cars, buildings seem perfectly normal, but are other worldly. The instrumentals on this album showcase Mikes diverse talent, creating sublime and serene interludes, creating different emotions, discovery, elation, meditation, a desire to escape this world if only in music and vision. Take the journey, it is definitely worth it.

I am putting the events of the last weeks behind me. I enjoy Mike’s music and will continue to review his albums. He is talented and deserves recognition for his music. He is not to blame for his wife or mother inlaws behaviour. I was very angry, and as a loyal fan it was devastating. However, music heals all wounds. Listening with renewed passion for life

Great news from Mike Oldfield Official.com! The new Deluxe Editions are to be released in July (tentative). Not long to wait for these beautifully remastered editions! I have continued with my journey following Mike’s musical career. So many highlights! In 2003 Mike toured with Tubular Bells 3. It was a departure from Tubular Bells 2 and included more electronica/trance instrumentals. It was spectacular to watch footage of the premiere at Horse Guards Parade. As usual Mike had the audience enthralled from the opening until the climactic ending. This man is master of his music. His guitar solos were spine tingling. The Spanish flamenco piece on spanish guitar was beautiful. He plays so quickly, and with precision. Even a downpour and a generator blackout could not ruin Top Of The Morning, a favourite of mine. He had reinvented his genre again and it was a resounding success. The three massive tubular bells added emphasis to the closing themes. All female vocalists were beautiful and sang with heart and soul. A colourful mix of culture, beauty and femininity which complemented Mike’s playing. He has a great ear for female vocalists and they are his voice in tune with guitar. Percussion, the band all were a unified happy team and it showed. I will review Mikes concert at Montreaux next, stepping back to see the young Michael and Maggie Reilly at their best. Au revoir for now, love, Deb

Hi all! Wishing you happiness this Spring. Many new age artists contributing to this sites excellent music collection. The Montreaux Concert 1981 was one of Mike Oldfields defining moments as an alternative/prog rock artist. Whilst the concert was a celebration of the anniversary of Tubular Bells, this concert was a departure. Maggie Reillys vocals and Mikes band brought new life and energy to the original material. A new maturity was evident in the still young Mike Oldfield. His confidence had grown. His mastery of his craft was evident in the precision guitar playing. He challenged himself, even at his own concert, as only he can. Perfection is a key theme throughout Mike’s incredible career. This wonderful concert is available on DVD to order from Amazon. Spoil yourself and buy this HQ edition of Live At Montreaux. You will enjoy it. Blessings, peace and love, Deb xxxxxx
