PostHeaderIcon New Project from David & Steve Gordon

After years of composing the music you and I want, David and Steve Gordon decided to make the music they wanted themselves. The result is a music project with the cryptic name Lodestone Resonator. This is a fusion of electronic and acoustic elements that combine in hypnotic patterns. The result is something far from the Gordon Brother´s usual style, but it is nevertheless a very interesting mix. Their new style is a bit dark, but filled with ambient melodies and rhythm. It is hard to put a genre tag on it, but it is safely in the meditative department. Another thing to mention is that they are not only ready with one brand new album – but THREE!

The titles are Sensory Engineering, Non-Ordinary States of Consciousness and Mapping the Transpersonal Dimension . They are at the moment website exclusive releases as the CD versions are not available yet.

I´m very happy with what I have heard so far. I like the rhythmic approach, and the tracks have the coolness of Buddha Lounge. I agree with this presentation:

This is music for true pychonauts; those who would dare to explore the depths of their own consciousness. For those who would take the journey beyond time and space, the rewards are great when Lodestone Resonator provides the soundtrack for your travels.

PostHeaderIcon Gordon Brothers and The Law of Attraction

New Age Music superstars David & Steve Gordon have a very nice blog. Their most recent topic is The Law of Attraction. They give a great presentation of this very interesting topic, and also tell a bit about the role of music in this.  The post begins with:

If there are things about your current situation that you would like to change, there are many actions you will need to take. But while you are taking those actions, consider the power of your thoughts.

The Law of Attraction states that like attracts like. So if your thoughts are focused on the problems you are facing and how difficult it is for you then you could be creating more of the same.

PostHeaderIcon The Benefits of Meditation

We are massive fans of David & Steve Gordon here on NewAgeMusic.nu. They are among the most dedicated New Age Music producers out there, and have been delivering top notch albums and compilations for years and years.

The Gordon Brothers have a very nice blog too. They have recently published an article called The Benefits of Meditation. It starts with:

We have both been meditating in various ways for over 30 years.  Whether it is traditional sitting meditation or mindfulness practices such as walking meditation, we‘re grateful for the many benefits we’ve found in these ways.  There are far more benefits to meditating than can be covered here, so we’re offering this personal note as a short introduction to a large idea.

PostHeaderIcon David & Steve Gordon of Sequoia Records

David & Steve Gordon are internationally acclaimed 30 year music legends pushing the musical boundaries yet again by 2 releases in 2010. The time consuming search for finding great music just got a little easier and I plan to bring you more about the band of brothers who founded the Sequoia Records Label.

The Gordon Brothers are easily recognized by many since these Award Winning producers, composers, and classically trained instrumentalists also founded the acclaimed Sequoia Records 26 years ago and will find they are a reliable and trusted source for great music.

Knowing their defining contributions to our genre and after my recent introduction to David and Steve, I look forward to telling you about their new releases since they consistently shape the landscape of New Age, World, Ambient, Nature, Chill Out and Electronic music in many respects.

New Age explorers of music by their early conception of nature sound creations and early dawn of their Sequoia Records Label, these 2 music innovators have attained world class recognition, grossed over 1.6 million units in sales worldwide and in the process, and even helped write the definitions for our primary genre and subgenres.

David and Steve Gordon have been recognized too since their original music was commissioned for many film and television scores over the years, charted several times on Billboard and a recent New Age Music Retail survey has listed the team as the fifth overall favorite in our beloved genre which tells you about their fine achievements, recognition and life work.

Gratitude is their latest contribution in the Relaxation and Meditation series highlighting Native American flute with enhancing keyboard imagery that when integrated as a whole creates a natural feel with the pairing and becomes conducive to a revitalizing atmosphere.

Gratitude has a calming sensation which briefly takes you back to their innovative days of nature sound ambience first heard in primordial album Misty Forest Morning if you listen close enough. On their current however a more prominent Native American Flute interchange becomes extended when partnered with drawn out electronic enhancements, nurturing depth while maximizing the level of richness in tonal balance.

The electronics blended with woodwind passages impart moments of peace and solitude in a relaxing sanctuary of refined ambience. While sharing equal time and thought on this album, the Native American flute passages at times, becomes the calming voice from the past that shares a respective dialogue with modern day electronic ambience.

Buddha – Lounge 7 is the second release and a compilation of Chill Out Electronica tracks from around the world, and a great choice for those pursuing exceptional Chill Out music that also happens to be widely popular these days.

This Sequoia Records album enlists an extensive array of 9 hand selected global talents sporting their individual interpretations of Electronic Chill Out, Groove and Lounge, with David and Steve taking a role on 3 originals of the 12 songs which presents over an hour of first class music.

Buddha Nova, Secret Lotus & Cobalt Transport are the 3 songs from David and Steve, and it is always a challenge to pick just one favorite, but lively percussion enhanced Buddha Nova with a light tonal keyboard melody did make an impression on me.

The progressive feel of Secret Lotus and mesmerizing percussion enhanced Cobalt Transport are first class too and you will find my favorite pick is simply a matter of personal taste.

This compilation album in entirety features Achillea, Tya, Jens Gad Presents, Artemisia, Paul Heinerman, Helene Horlyck, Jaya Lakshmi, Lodestone Resonator, and Opera to Relax.

Buddha – Lounge 7 is just one in the edition series in an even more expansive 16 Chill Out / Groove compilation albums from the production and mixing team of DJ brothers who showcase an abundance of global music talents you will recognize in addition to their individual album arrangements, making your search for fine music so much easier.

PostHeaderIcon A sure sign of the end times?

We always enjoy reading new age music reviews in regular media. As you know, “serious” music critics do not much like being associated with the genre. This comment in the Columbus’ News & Entertainment Weekly paper put a smile upon our faces:

A sure sign of the end times: I’ve been listening (gulp) to (gulp, gulp) a little bit of (deep gagging sound here), uh, New Age music.

And more:

Sacred Drum Visions by David and Steve Gordon is high on my early a.m. playlist. I put it on when I am oozing from the dead, transfusing coffee straight into my system, trying to get into humanoid-boogie-machine mood in order to deal with my day of High Street retail.

They mine the Native American Indian thing with a gooey sonic gauze of mournful, fuzzy flute wavering over mellow, meandering drums with some sort of mildly humming keyboard in the mix. Sounds exciting, eh?

PostHeaderIcon Into the Buddha Lounge

The 7th edition of Sequoia Records’ popular Buddha Lounge series will be released on CD in the US on April 13. The download edition was released on Monday this week.

No Buddha Lounge is complete without the Gordon Brothers, and on this album they have contributed with three tracks, Champaign Currents, Rain In The Sun and Cobalt Transport. The collection opens with Jens Gad/Achillea’s Vivir and is followed by Tya’s Lizard.

Another notable track is Paul Heinerman’s masterful Chimengu, which has become a modern classic in the new age music genre. It is one of the most beloved songs on online radio channels, and is a pillar in Paul Heinerman’s already impressive discography.

So yes, the 7th installment in the Buddha Lounge series is very welcome indeed!

PostHeaderIcon Learn to Meditate in 10 Minutes

The Gordon Brothers, David & Steve, have a very nice blog called Sound Peace. Steve has recently written a post called Learn to Meditate in 10 Minutes. He tells that:

You can learn the basics of meditation in the 10 minutes it takes you to read this article. There are countless books and courses promising to teach you to meditate and the fact is that you can learn it on your own after you know a few techniques. Once your learn the technique however, it can take years to perfect it. That’s why many people call it their “practice.” But even if you are new to meditation, you can start to reap the benefits of it such as letting go of stress, being more relaxed throughout the day, better heart health, more creativity, better concentration and better clarity right away.
