Green Sun is a music project by Michael Hefetz. He was born in 1978 in Belarus, but he now resides in Israel. Like so many artists of his generation, his first experience with music creation was through personal computers, inspired of Jean Michel Jarre and similar artists. Later he has also learned to play piano and guitar, and started composing and releasing music.

Michael Hefetz’ music became quite popular on the old mp3.com, just like artists such as Ametyhstium and Jorge Grundman. Many mp3.com artists have since embarked on successful careers. I am sure Dream Elements will establish Green Sun as a popular artist too – the album for sure has a dream-like potential.

The first you will notice while listening to Dream Elements is how gentle and peaceful it is – even the rhythm is like raindrops. Still there is a noticeable force, a distinct artistic drive, behind the arrangement. The first songs In the Beginning, Andromeda and Distant Star are like stepping into a dream sphere. So yes, it is a very promising start indeed.

The synth arrangement is tasteful, with delicate layers of pads and strings.

Green Sun is sequenced music with attention to details. The synth arrangement is tasteful, with delicate layers of pads and strings. As the album progresses there are songs that are less dreamy and have a more intricate melodies. It is obvious that Enigma is an important influence (especially in the use of piano leads), and some of the synths have an analogue sound much like Tangerine Dream. The sound design is of high quality, pure and simple.

One should perhaps think that a young artist like Michael Hefetz would create music with a little power and bravado. My response to this is that the color green has many shades; under the Green Sun it is morning still. By noon the guitars are blazing for sure!

You can sample the album on CDBaby. The album is published by AMAdea Records.
