Terry Oldfield and his partner Soraya Saraswati will be heading to Europe this fall to play concerts. After they wrap up summer events in their home country of Australia, they will be in Italy, Holland and Belgium among other spots. If you will be in either Australia during the summer or Europe from late August through October, you can look up more informatin on Terry and Soraya’s events at www.terryoldfield.com.

This is to our Australian friends; next week you have the chance to experience Terry Oldfield and his wife Soraya and their wonderful Sound Journeys. They weave a rich tapestry of healing sound and music with flute, crystal bowls, strings, symphonic gongs, percussion and voice. Terry is well known for his nature recordings, which always give the listener a profound sense of connection to Mother Earth. The seminar’s goal is to transport the audience to a space of deep relaxation and peace. It is in this space spontaneous healing can occur.

Throughout history the power of sound through music has been used to move people to states of inspiration, joy, meditation, wellness, grief, war and stillness. Great news for Terry Oldfield’s many fans; New Earth Records is continuing to release his back catalog. The latest is Reiki Healing Energy, which we previously knew as Cascade.

All of the Terry Oldfield Classic Collection albums are remastered, given a redesign, and sometimes a new title too. With Reiki Healing Energy there are now 12 albums in New Earth’s Terry Oldfield Classic Collection.

Over the last year New Earth Records has released eight titles from Terry Oldfield’s back catalogue, published under the Terry Oldfield Classic Collection name.

There is no doubt in my mind; these titles are some of the finest new age music ever released, and Terry is most probably the best flutist in the business.

In connection with the Classic Collection New Earth has a small biography and interview with Terry.

New Earth: You talk quite openly on your website about yourself and your life and you seem very clear about what is important to you. Do you think that music has helped you to find this clarity and a connection to spirit? Or has it been the other way round?

Terry: My own personal dissatisfaction with the more acceptable viewpoints of reality has enabled me to write music that other people in like position can relate to. By going into this malaise I discover a longing that expresses itself beautifully through music because it cuts through the very thing that creates the problem – the process of thinking.

And, as always, when talking about either Terry or Sally their little brother Mike has to be mentioned. Here from Terry’s biography:

Terry: There was a fun period when my brother Mike and myself started a band called Barefoot. I enjoyed the atmosphere of that a lot. We played quite heavy stuff in various clubs but I couldn’t play the guitar for toffee! Mike later went on to become a megastar.

When it comes to live inspirational new age music, Terry & Soraya are in my opinion the best in the business. On August 1st between 6.30pm – 8.30pm Terry Oldfield and his wife Soraya hold their Sound Journey Concert in Brisbane, Australia.

They give this inspiring description of the concert:

Terry Oldfield’s most recent album Sacred Touch – Music For Massage will be released on CD on 11 August 2009 on the New Earth label. But if you need your massage right now, I am happy to tell you that the album has already been released as a digital download!

Dreamy music can be almost magical sometimes. Just put it on your iPod or CD-player, close your eyes and your mind takes off. A dreamy album like this is Terry Oldfield’s In The Presence Of Light, which he released early last year. And wow, what a spectacular fireworks Terry shows us! Every color of the rainbow is represented here.

The album is ten track long and each track has a one word title, like Wonder, Space and Flight, underlining the simplicity of the release. There is nothing complex here at all, no dramatic melodies or rhythmic segments, which is a plus. And while other albums only give you one track as introduction, Terry gives you both an Entering and an Opening. I guess it is meant to give your inner eye time to adjust to the presence of light…

The most noteworthy tracks are Longing and Presence. They are long, slow and perfect for meditation. There is this feel of lightness and freedom. Still, the atmosphere can be a little dark, then suddenly Terry creates light with his wonderful flute, which is as good as it gets (as usual). The song Flight also has a great violin section. The last track, Return, is a perfect conclusion to the album.
